Greg Wood and Danita Allen Wood (a husband and wife team of journalists themselves) started the company 9 years ago. The company is a member of the International and Regional Magazine Association (IRMA). Danita is serving a three-year term on its board, and you will have opportunities to attend annual conferences. Our magazine is hosting the 2010 conference.
Our prize-winning magazine has won the Gold Award for a travel feature, a Bronze Award for art direction, and a couple of IRMA Awards of Merit, as well as a couple of Missouri Tourism Department awards.
Missouri Life Inc. seeks a marketing consultant/graphic designer/production manager for our award-winning 6x/year 4-color state magazine and special custom publishing projects. Responsibilities may include overall art direction of certain publications and special projects.
Specific responsibilities may include:
—Working as a marketing advocate for our clients, helping them develop and deliver effective marketing message
—Helping Missouri Life develop and create its own branded identity
—Design of advertisements, working with an advertising coordinator and individual sales people to ensure ads are designed and approved, placing ads on page
—Assigning and directing photography, as needed
—Opportunity to do some photography, if desired
—Copy writing, as needed
—Photo editing
—Scanning lo res, hi res
—Color correcting, as needed
—Some editorial design
—Other editorial duties possible as time permits and depending on talent and desire
—Managing fonts
—Preparing final PDFs to printer specs
—Using printer's online submission and proofing process
Candidates must be self-motivated, responsible, hard-working, comfortable working with a team or independently, able to produce high-quality work in fast-paced environment, and able to meet deadlines. We need both big-picture marketing message development ability and design vision and meticulous attention to details. Career goals should include a general desire to increase responsibilities. The successful candidate will have a professional interest and ability to stay current with the latest technology.

Missouri Life, Inc., in Boonville (about 30 minutes from Columbia) seeks ambitious and talented advertising sales people, preferably with media sales experience, to work from your home office but join our ad sales team of three people. You would sell the city market and grow with us. Missouri Life is a six times per year, four-color state magazine focusing especially on travel, leisure, and history. Our page count has been in the 134-164-page range during this past year. We have other custom publications, which you may sell into as well, such as a golf annual and Vacation Days magazine, and we also sell positions on MissouriLife.com.

Job Description:
To create new ad sales revenue and renew existing customers, working from your home office. (Travel to Boonville 2x/month to meet with publisher and sales team.)
Specific responsibilities:
SALES ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE
—Sell advertising space in our magazine, custom projects, and annual guides
—Solicit business by canvassing current account lists and cold calling
—Increase revenue from existing accounts and grow client revenue in an assigned territory or category
—Help develop and implement creative sales strategies
—Build strategic alliances with advertisers to increase advertising revenue
—Contact with customers will be through face-to-face interaction, telephone and written correspondence
—Work from home office; travel as needed
—Fulfill sales budgeting/forecasting/ reporting procedures
—Assist as needed in communicating with clients about advertising materials and payments
Experience Necessary/Desirable:
Face-to-face and phone selling experience desirable; marketing ability; strategic planning skills; superior presentation and communication skills; excellent consultative selling skills; strong verbal and written communication skills; analytical ability; listening skills; creative ideas to assist our customers in achieving their marketing goals. College degree.
