May Their Memory Be a Blessing

March 13 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

$18.00
Memory

The power of memory, music, and justice bring us together with the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum where we present a concert of music spanning generations of tradition and innovation. In the first half, we honor two composers murdered during the Holocaust and explore a new work from a young composer processing recent events inextricably linked to the past. Following intermission, we will explore the museum’s special exhibit, “The Artist Who Captured Eichmann” through the music of Argentinian born composer Osvaldo Golijov. The concert closes with beloved old tunes from the classical and klezmer repertoires.

Hans Krasa: Tanec for string trio
Benjamin Rouder: May their memory be a blessing
Gideon Klein: String Trio
——
Osvaldo Golijov Tenebrae
Anibal Toilo/arr. Osvaldo Golijov: ‘Responso’
Ernest Bloch: Prayer arr. for cello and string trio
David Krakauer, arranger: Three Traditional Klezmer Tunes for clarinet and string quartet

Rebecca Chung, violin
Kyle Lombard, violin
Laura Reycraft, viola
Marta Simidtchieva, cello
Dana Hotle, clarinet

This program is produced with financial support from the St. Louis Kaplan Feldman Holocaust Museum, the Regional Arts Commission of St. Louis, and the Missouri Arts Council.
