Event Details

The Foundry Art Centre proudly presents the next installment of
its First Friday Series July 2nd, 5-8pm. On the first Friday of each
month, join the Foundry and celebrate the arts. The FAC will be open for
extended hours through 8pm for visitors to spend time in the galleries, meet
resident studio artists, interact with the community, and enjoy a wide array of
art programming, entertainment, and special events.

For First Friday on July 2nd, a new exhibition by
studio artist Jim Carlson will open in the Ameristar Gallery, the home gallery for
the Foundry’s Studio Artists. As one of the original Foundry Studio Artists,
Jim has been creating, teaching, and sharing his love of pottery since 2004. He
was introduced to clay in 1969 during a college pottery course with famed
professor and artist Reinhold Marxhausen. In his new exhibition titled Fantastic Vessels, Jim’s quintessential
unexpected, whimsical ceramics are on full display – unique handles, wild lids,
and combinations of different building techniques. Texture and experimentation
abound with different glazes and various building techniques.

Fellow Foundry Studio Artist Lydia Crespo of Argaman&Defiance will
be hosting a “Bomb Pop”-inspired Tote Bag workshop from 5-7pm. A 10% discount
is applied for Foundry Art Centre members and St. Charles residents. Register
at argamandefiance.com.

In the Grand Hall, musician Anthony Russo will perform from
6-7:30, with a cash bar on hand for refreshments. Exhibitions by David Johnson,
Destiny Mata, & Bridget Murphy Milligan continue in the Main Galleries.

“Everyone at the Foundry Art Centre is excited to host First
Friday Open Houses,” explained Sean FitzGibbons, the Foundry Art Centre’s
Executive Director. “Hosting these open houses every First Friday is a new way
forward for the FAC, and it aligns perfectly with our mission of being a
resource for art and creativity to our community.”

Events & exhibitions at the Foundry Art Centre are free and
open to the public. For more information, please visit us at foundryartcentre.org
