Event Details

Volunteer at Knob Noster State Park and help assess the water quality of Clearfork Creek, a tributary of the Blackwater River.

This is a moderate-impact volunteer activity in which volunteers will be in the creek and water. Participants should expect a short hike into the creek and should wear clothing and shoes that can be submerged. They should also bring water and snacks and wear insect repellent and sunscreen. This activity is good for ages 10 and up. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. No experience is necessary, and training will be provided.

Contact Chris Edmondson by email ([email protected]) or by phone (660-563-2463) to sign up for this opportunity. Volunteers will meet Chris at the Knob Noster State Park visitor center at 2 p.m. This activity is expected to last about two hours.

In the event of inclement weather, this activity may be rescheduled.

This volunteer activity will utilize the presence or absence of macroinvertebrates to assess water quality. This is an important citizen-science-driven project by the Missouri Stream Team. For more information about Stream Team, visit mostreamteam.org.
