Event Details

Do you enjoy birds and birding? Then, volunteer to assist with spring migration bird surveys at Knob Noster State Park this year.

Bird surveys are low-impact activities that require participants to walk slowly and document birds that are seen and heard. Surveys will utilize eBird for documentation. Surveying the migratory birds that use the park during the spring helps assess the ecological status of local habitats. The data is used to create future bird checklists and recognize the importance of certain areas.

Those who would like to participate should contact Chris Edmondson by email ([email protected]) or phone (660-563-2463) to sign up for this opportunity. Volunteers will meet Chris at the park visitor center at 7:30 a.m. on the scheduled survey dates. This activity is expected to last about two hours.

Participants should dress for the weather and bring binoculars, a field guide, personal water, snacks, insect repellent and sunscreen. In the event of adverse birding weather, the survey will be canceled for the scheduled day.
