In
October of 2018, Governor Parson signed Executive Order 18-07 creating the
Missouri Bicentennial Commission.  The
purpose of this Commission is to “aid the State Historical Society of Missouri
in its charge to plan for and implement the commemoration of the Missouri
bicentennial and to further state efforts to honor the State of Missouri and
its rich history and heritage on the occasion of its bicentennial, Missouri
2021 Bicentennial – Past. Present. Future
.
Cities throughout Missouri have been asked to participate by hosting events
to help expand the celebration.

The
Allied Arts Council and St. Joseph Convention and Visitors Bureau jumped on
board with the state effort by forming a planning committee to discuss St.
Joseph’s involvement.  The Allied Arts
Council formed a festival committee to create a family-friendly, interactive,
one-time festival allowing the community to explore St. Joseph from a frontier
town to City of lnnovation.

Festival features will
include the Musical History Tour

to commemorate Missouri’s bicentennial, offered exclusively at the “St. Joseph:
from steam to STEAM” event. The Musical History Tour will take audiences on a
