‘Pepperland’: Mark Morris Dance Group with Live Music

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the City of Liverpool has commissioned a special performance, and it’s coming to Kansas City. The event features live music and mesmerizing choreographed dances created by Mark Morris, an American dancer, choreographer, and director. On February 8, at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, the Dance Group will perform to six tracks from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Five decades ago this album made its mark with a lineup of creative hits featuring influences that ranged from the Beach Boys to Frank Zappa. A live band will perform a medley of Sgt. Pepper’s songs along with six originals that were inspired by the album. Learn more about this evening at HJSeries.org/events.
