Missouri Life is seeking an editorial intern for the upcoming summer term. Our 8-week summer internship program provides a tailored experience that’s designed to hone your skills and help you gain experience in the areas you’re most interested in. Aside from our print magazine, which is published 8 times per year, we also produce coffee table books, live events and tours, and a TV show. You’ll work closely with the editorial team to fill needs that fall within your areas of interest. This is a paid opportunity. Applications are due by April 17.
Potential duties include:
- Researching, reporting, and writing feature length stories
- Writing shorter departmental stories
- Uploading and publishing content to MissouriLife.com
- Assisting with social media management
- Taking part in editorial planning meetings
- Assigning writers and photographers to stories
- Proofreading print editions
- Assisting with production of our custom projects and print products
Preferred qualifications include:
- Writing for a print outlet (preference will be given to applicants who have published at least 2 features)
- Basic copyediting skills
- Familiarity with reporting and accuracy checking
- Knowledge of Chicago or AP style
- Strong interest in storytelling
This position requires a 20 hour per week time commitment over the course of 8 weeks. Starting and ending dates are flexible. Our offices are located in Boonville, about 30 minutes west from Columbia. The position pays $12/hr.
