Babette’s Feast

In the pious home of sisters Martine and Philippa—the twin spinsters who lead a sect of Norwegian pietists—enter Babette. A French refugee with skill for cooking, Babette prepares food in such a way that mercy and truth meet together. Witness as a general, a village of pietists, an opera singer, and many more receive infinite grace through unexpected meetings.
The show features dancing from Saint Louis Irish Arts which transports audiences into the mysterious grace encountered by the pietists of Berlevaag. Truly an ensemble based piece, nine actors alternate between portraying the plethora of diverse characters in the village of Bervlaag and narrating their experience.
Babette’s Feast was conceived and developed by Abigail Killeen, written by Rose Courtney, and adapted from the short story by Isak Dinesen. It is being produced by Bread and Wine Theatre Company in collaboration with KTK Productions. It runs an hour and forty minutes with no intermission. Please arrive on time. The location is handicap accessible.
