Escape to a meticulously curated A-frame outside Hermann.

KC Frank, who co-owns Seven Acres Escape, a custom made A-frame rental, says it’s so special that guests don’t want to leave the property once they arrive, even though it is just a few minutes to Hermann’s renowned wineries.
The A-frame actually sits on eight acres of land, but KC says they had already given it the name Seven Acres before the land was surveyed. Working with co-owner Yunuen Orozco, KC says they built the property to provide experiential areas for guests. “No one to this day has been able to point me in the right direction to any other A-frame in the country that is as luxurious as this one,” he says.
The A-frame has five suites that can accommodate 10 guests. “Seven Acres Escape is a destination for group getaways, milestone celebrations, family gatherings, microweddings, corporate retreats, and wellness experiences,” KC says.

Outside, there are two places to hang out. One is a dedicated turf wellness area overlooking the tree line, with a sauna, loungers, cooling water misters, and a yoga space complete with mats. The other is an area with a pool table, cornhole game, and a bocce ball court featuring a custom built scoreboard. There are overhead lights for nighttime play, and spectators on the upper terrace can look down and watch the games. Guests can burn provided firewood in a large custom stone fire pit and soak in the hot tub.
There are two rooftop terraces—one called The Horizon, set up with lounge chairs and an outdoor bar, and the other called The Sky Deck, which features a telescope. And if guests still have energy to spare, they can head to the lower level of the A-frame, where there are more games, like air hockey and an arcade game, and a movie room.
“We were able to take into consideration what it would be like to be a guest there from the very beginning,” KC says. This meant hiring an architect from Romania who is renowned for his A-frame designs. And it meant considering every last detail. “I’d go out there almost every day and just stand there looking at the place, trying to think through the guest experience and what would it be like if I was there right now and what would I be doing.”

This isn’t the first guest house KC has designed. He has curated experiences for guests at seven locations across the states, including a home in Columbia.
“We get a lot of comments like, ‘They thought of everything,’ which is really great to hear,” KC says. “I mean, truthfully, that’s probably the biggest compliment we can get.”
KC’s careful considerations extended beyond design decisions, though; he wanted to ensure that Hermann’s economy benefited from the build. “Ninety percent of the build was done by Hermann businesses,” he says.

One of KC’s favorite parts of his job is seeing his guests’ reactions. “Seeing what the guests say is really my main motivation and excitement,” he says. “And so, when they tell us that they had a great time or that they did this or did that, they didn’t want to leave, et cetera, it just reaffirms that what we’re doing is working. And it’s really great payback, knowing that you’re part of someone’s vacation and long-term memory.”
