Marco … Santa! Dive into the third annual Swimming with Santa event at Heckart Community Center (HCC) in Sedalia from 6 to 7 PM on December 6.
The event, hosted by the Sedalia Parks and Recreation Department, will feature Santa and Mrs. Clause swimming in red and white swimsuits in an indoor pool. Children can join in the swimming fun and tell Santa their Christmas list. For members of HCC, admission is free. Non-members can purchase a day pass for $5 for youth and seniors and $7 for an adult.
“We wanted a Christmas event for the pool and we have connections with Santa,” says Clara Boehm, aquatics manager for Sedalia Parks and Recreation. “Mrs. Claus loves swimming so it was the perfect event to add!”
The daily fee or membership also covers the whole building for the entire day so patrons can play in the gym, Kids Zone, or any other area of HCC.
Currently, there are no organized games during the event, but children will get a Christmas-themed rubber duck from Santa.
“It’s a fun chance for the kids to spend time with Santa,” Clara says. “At this event, kids are usually able to spend more time with Santa than at our busier Santa events.”
The HCC pool has a large indoor slide, lap swim area, water basketball area, and shallow children’s water feature area that has a large tiger water play area. Food is not allowed in the HCC pool area. There are a small amount of lifejackets available upon request.
The event is located at 1800 W 3rd Street, Sedalia. To learn more, visit SedaliaParks.com.
