Attend a Wine Tasting … With Cats – PapasCatCafe.com If you’re a cat person and you’re 21 years of age or older, you’ll be thrilled to hear from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, September 18, Papa’s Cat Café will be hosting its “Wine and Whiskers” event. There will be cheese. There will be wine. There will be plenty of cats to pet. Reservations are $20 and include two glasses of wine, an assortment of cheeses, a fruit and veggie tray, baked goods and even cat-themed coloring pages. Attend a Socially Distanced Charity Picnic – Eventbrite Link On Monday, September 21 from 5–-8 p.m. at Logboat Brewing Company, the Rock Bridge Lions Club is hosting its Third Annual Charity Picnic to benefit Welcome Home, a non-profit that helps homeless and at-risk Veterans at Logboat Brewing Company. This event might look a little different this year, but it’ll be no less fun. A limited number of in-person VIP tickets are available for $50, which allow attendees to experience the event at Logboat Brewery as well as grub from CoMo Smoke and Fire BBQ and more; $30 ‘to go’ tickets allow folks to support the cause with take-home food, complimentary beverages and access to the online auction. See a Drive-In Movie – Como.gov/parksandrec If you’re in need of fun for the whole family, Columbia Parks & Recreation is hosting a drive-in movie from 7:15–10:15 PM on October 3 at Cosmo Park. You’ll need to bring your own snacks and stay inside your cars if you’re not going to use one of the available restrooms (when exiting your car,masks are mandatory). Attend the Annual “Out of the Darkness” Walk – AFSP.org/columbiamo While there won’t be a full walk this year, you can still raise awareness for suicide prevention with the Out of the Darkness Drive-Thru Experience, held on Sunday, October 11 from 12–4 p.m. at Stephens Lake Park. Attendees will receive honor beads, sand, merchandise, and a walk T-shirt; they’ll also be able to sign the event banner, visit the event’s shoe display, and get a bite to eat at Dickey’s BBQ food truck. Take Pottery Lessons – MudRoomStudio.com/classes If you’ve always wanted to learn how to make a bowl on a pottery wheel, now’s your chance. The Mud Room in Columbia is hosting pottery wheel lessons for adults and kids, by appointment. Several “tiers” of lessons are available for $65, $120, and $220, and all include training on the wheel, instruction on how to make a bowl, and a return session to glaze your creation.
