Chillicothe is hosting the first annual Main Street Chillicothe Hot Cocoa Crawl from 1 to 6 PM on December 19. Patrons can shop at local downtown businesses, while also enjoying tasty beverages.
The event is $15, and check-in is at 514 Washington Street. The ticket price includes a bag, cup, program of the stores participating in the event, and free beverages along the crawl. Participants are also automatically entered to win a gift basket upon buying a ticket. Money raised through ticket sales will go toward Main Street Chillicothe, a local organization aimed at creating community partnerships and travel to the area.
“We obviously want to bring fun things for the community to do together, to feel together,” says Tomie Walker, executive director at Main Street Chillicothe. “But we also want to support our small businesses that are keeping these historic buildings safe and standing. So, we try to organize our event so that it brings shopping downtown and so that they can meet the business owners and have that personal relationship with them.”
Tomie mentioned that many of the stores will have special deals and discounts during the event. The event will be held rain, snow, or shine.
“I hope that everyone stays until six, because our downtown is beautiful at night,” Tomie says. “So I hope that they come and shop and then go out to eat, go to dinner, and enjoy all the downtown lights and festive atmosphere.”
