Easter is getting a new look at this event. The first ever, free Helicopter Easter Egg Drop in Joplin will be from 11 AM–2 PM on April 12.
At 1 PM, the event will be dropping 46,000 eggs from a helicopter onto drop zones at the Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) at their soccer fields on Green and Gold Drive in Joplin. Then, children will hunt colored eggs based on age group. Besides egg hunting, visitors can listen to a gospel presentation, eat free hotdogs, chips, cookies, and drinks, and enjoy bounce houses and inflatables. Don’t forget to bring lawn chairs!
The Forest Park Church is hosting this event “to serve our community, create meaningful family experiences, and share the hope of Jesus through a fun and welcoming environment,” says Lindsey Hardister, communications director for Forest Park Church.
The event is expecting thousands of people but will have a Sensory Friendly Zone. “Each drop zone is clearly marked and sectioned off for safety. Every age group has a chance to find special prize eggs, and our Sensory Friendly Zone ensures that all children can participate,” Lindsey says. “We will have noise-canceling headphones and claw grabbers for those who need a little extra help!”
Age groups based on the color of the eggs:
- Sensory Friendly — Pink (no age limit)
- Ages 0-2 — Yellow
- Ages 3-4 — Blue
- Ages 5-6 — Green
- Ages 7-8 — Purple
- Ages 9-10 — Orange
- Ages 11-12+ — Red
- Special prize eggs in every age-specific drop zone-such as bikes, scooters, gaming consoles, TVs, and more.
