Learn to Make Lavender Wreaths

by Sydney Jones

Battlefield Lavender Farm offers up bundles of fresh, hand-cut lavender from their fields, local honey and lavender products for sale in their shop, and family fun while feeding chickens at their location in Centralia. Now, visitors can plan ahead and take classes as well! This month, the farm is offering wreath-making classes where attendees can craft something special out of fresh lavender.

Wreath-making classes are set up for crafters wanting to make an unforgettable piece of handmade art.

“Shortly after we opened our farm to visitors in 2020, lots of folks would ask if we would show them how to make some of the things we made, and the idea of offering crafting classes here at the farm was born!” says Katie and Jason Lockwood, owners of Battlefield Lavender in Centralia. “Being able to create something beautiful with lavender is just one part of the fun experience of our classes, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to build community with other people who share the love of lavender! When the class is done, they get to bring home a keepsake that brings joy and good memories.”

The crafting classes are one hour long, and the Battlefield employees provide all of the necessary supplies, including the lavender for the project which is harvested from their very own fields. “We have hundreds of embellishments to choose from: florals, greenery, ribbon and more. We limit crafting classes to 10 participants to ensure everyone has a personalized experience and direct help from our instructor if needed,” says Katie.

If classes for this upcoming session, February 9th at 11 AM sell out, don’t worry! Battlefield Lavender Farm will be running the wreath-making class again on February 23rd at 11 AM.

For this class specifically, crafters can look forward to twisting fresh lavender into a decorative wreath and adding in their own embellishments, florals, greenery, ribbon, and more that is provided by the farm. Katie encourages readers to “Sign up with a partner or a crew, or come solo and make new lavender friends!”
