Confederate Gen. Sterling Price decided against attacking the Union troops at Jefferson City. The day’s events resurfaced in spring 2022 amid the planned removal of paving stones recognizing this “Battle That Wasn’t” from city grounds, according to a story from KOMU-8 TV.
