Spooky season is upon us, so it’s the perfect time to begin scary movie marathons! The Missouri State Museum in Jefferson City has decided to join in on the fun with a showing of “House on Haunted Hill”.
Employees at Missouri State Museum say they’ve “talked off and on about doing exhibits about Missouri movies, or other things with Missouri movies.” Eventually they settled on a backyard concert series, and have now expanded to backyard movies. “We wanted to do something kind of seasonal, but that’s also connected to Missouri.”
Visitors can take part in the outdoor movie event on Saturday October 19th, 2024. Missouri native, actor Vincent Price, stars in “House on Haunted Hill”, which is known as being one of his best horror roles throughout the 1950’s.
For added fear-factor and fun, the Missouri State Museum is hosting the showing on the lawn of the historic Lohman Building. Guests are asked to bring their own blanket or chair, and are encouraged to bring snacks, pack a thermos of hot cocoa, and enjoy the show amongst the stars.
The Museum says that if attendees arrive early, they can partake in the pre-showing events such as photo-ops, a slideshow with old movie slides from an old movie theater in Missouri, and free popcorn while supplies last. Blankets and warm clothes are also encouraged as fall temperatures approach.
This event is free and open to the public, and there is no need to register. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be rescheduled. The movie will be from 7 to 8:30 PM.
