Lizzi and Rocco’s—a pet market local to the Columbia area—is planning a Dog Easter Egg Hunt event for April 13! The event will include an easter egg hunt for all participating puppies where dogs can roam around the lawn and sniff out treats hidden inside of plastic eggs. Some eggs even include store coupons and other small prizes! What makes this event even more special (aside from freebies and goodies), is that all of the proceeds go to benefit Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue—a shelter that serves mid-Missouri by taking in and rehabilitating dogs experiencing neglect, abuse, and more.
“We have thousands of Easter eggs that are filled with treats and other prices scattered all around the grass,” says Jessica, an employee at the Lizzi and Rocco’s Green Meadows location. “We ask people either to come in at 12:30 PM and register the day of if they would like to, or check in if they pre-registered,” adds Jessica.
Tickets to the Dog Easter Egg Hunt are $10 per participating dog, and can be purchased ahead of time by clicking here. All proceeds go to Unchained Melodies Dog Rescue to benefit their programs and the rescue dogs at their facility.
In addition to the Easter egg hunt, visitors can come into the store and shop regular merchandise or for special Easter-themed items. The store has Easter-themed treats, stuffed animals, chew toys, puppy apparel, and more. “We have pre-made Easter baskets, and then for those people who either had so much fun they want to do to the Easter egg hunt again at home, or who have a dog who might not thrive in that kind of busy, high-dog-traffic environment, we do have DIY hunt kits that people can recreate the Easter egg hunt at home,” says Jessica.
If the humans are up for a treat, too, the shop has them covered! Lizzi and Rocco’s is planning on having at least one food and drink vendor at the event.
