Restaurant Week, New Shops, and More in Kansas City

by Porcshe Moran Murphy

Nine Zero One Igloo Bar – open now through Feb. 15 – The Fontaine – 901 W. 48th Place, KCMO – TheFontaineHotel.com/Eat-and-Drink/Igloo-Bar

This immersive pop-up experience on the rooftop of The Fontaine Hotel transports you to an icy, magical land. Reserve general admission seating indoors at the ice cave bar lounge or outside in one of the four cozy igloos—decorated clear plastic domes that extend outdoor dining through the winter months. Nine Zero’s menu features craft cocktails and shareable tapas inspired by Scandinavian flavors.

Café Cà Phê – 1101 Mulberry St., KCMO – CafeCaPhe.com

Kansas City’s first Vietnamese mobile coffee shop set up camp at the Firebrand Collective in the West Bottoms on December 15 and will remain there until it’s time to hit the streets again for the spring season on March 1. Broadway actress Jackie Nguyen, a first-generation Vietnamese American and former barista, decided to trade the stage for a career in coffee after a trip to Vietnam in 2019. Her traveling cafe is one of the few places in the country to serve 100% freshly roasted Vietnamese coffee beans from the nationally recognized Nguyen Coffee Supply. Some of the more unique offerings include the Hella Good Latte (made with purple yams originally from the Philippines, Vietnamese espresso, oat milk and condensed milk drizzle), the Paris by Night Latte (rose syrup, mocha sauce, Vietnamese espresso, milk and mocha drizzle) and the Golden Excellence (salted lemonade with lychee syrup).

The Exchange – 110 Main, Parkville – The Exchange in PKV on Facebook

Chef Andrew Dessert launched his modern take on a general store with a soft open the week of December 21. Located in downtown Parkville, the shop features goods such as meat, butter, simple syrups, coffee, wine and beer, pickles, soap, and jewelry from local producers and artists. Customers can also stop by The Exchange for drinks, small bites, breakfast burritos, charcuterie plates, cheese boards, and more. Eventually, the space will host live music.
