Have a fur-ightfully fun time at the Boo at the Zoo event at the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium, presented by Ford. The zoo will be hosting Halloween festivities from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., on October 26 and 27. Friends of the Zoo members can get an exclusive hour of the event from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

This is a family-friendly Boo at the Zoo event that will allow people of all ages to dress in Halloween costumes and visit the zoo’s animals. Weather permitting, the event will feature all the zoo’s regularly featured animals, such as monkeys and rhinoceroses.
“It allows us the opportunity to give back to the community and allows for a place for kids of all ages to come and have a safe place to trick-or-treat,” says Sean Putney, executive director of the zoo. “You can also see the animals and educate the kids about the animals that we have in our conservation methods.”
The zoo will provide 23 candy stations and have activities like a hay maze, swings, and miniature tractors that children can drive. Bags for candy will be provided at the entrance. Activities are included in the price of Zoo admission or Friends of the Zoo membership. General admission to the zoo is $19 to $22, and children under 2 years old are free. Friends of the Zoo members get tickets for half the price of general admission.

Whether you love the eerie sounds of howling animals or the taste of sweet candy, carve out time for this event during the Halloween season. “It should be a fun way to end the month and celebrate Halloween,” Sean says.
