Mid-Missouri native Charles Leiper Grigg was a soft drink icon. He moved to St. Louis from his hometown of Montgomery City to begin his career at a beverage company, where he came up with the drink, “Whistle.” The name later changed to 7-Up when it was reintroduced on June 23, 1936.
