We’re Hiring an Art Director!

Join an award-winning passionate team of people who have together created the magazine with the most paid circulation in Missouri!

Regional travel and lifestyle magazine Missouri Life is seeking an Art Director to oversee Missouri Life brand direction across all platforms. The Art Director must have strong communication skills, exhibit leadership qualities, and take initiative in creative solutions with flexibility and a positive attitude. The ideal candidate will innovate, oversee, and manage in addition to being a hands-on creative designer.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Collaborating with editorial team to plan visuals for stories during planning stage. Designing and overseeing Missouri Life magazine and our custom projects.
  • Designing/overseeing design of Missouri Life circulation, marketing and promotions, web and digital media
  • Developing design concepts for special projects and overseeing graphic designers’ execution of concepts
  • Managing freelance designers and vendors.
  • Reporting to the editor.

Requirements: 

  • The Art Director should feel completely at home in the Adobe Creative Suite especially Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as InCopy. 
  • Strong knowledge of print production best practices and attention to detail a must. 
  • Experience designing features, departments, and covers for a print magazine
  • 3-5  years experience, an exceptional portfolio, and professional design experience required.

Our offices are located in the historic river town of Rocheport, just outside of Columbia. The Art Director can expect an honest and ethical, creative, and highly dedicated team passionate about telling Missouri stories and providing excellent quality. Hours are Monday through Friday during standard 8-5 business hours, with ability to work from home or remotely part of the time. Full-time salary with benefits position; salary commensurate with experience.
