August 29, 1769 – Birthdate of Rose Philippine Duchesne of St. Charles, Florissant, and St. Louis. This pioneering nun, and educator started schools for Indians, girls, and the poor. She was declared a saint by the Catholic Church. Read more about her in Tales From Missouri and the Heartland.
