You could be the new owner of the Recess Inn Bed & Breakfast in Ethel, Missouri. This five bedroom, five bathroom property was built in 1910, and the rooms were once all classrooms. The spacious building is 3,805 square feet.
When you arrive, a bright red door will lead you into the historic building with original pieces, such as chalk boards, a typewriter, and a drum that says “Ethel High.” The main level features three bedrooms known as the Primary Room, the History Room, and the Music Room along with the Library and Common Room where large windows let in natural light, and you can relax next to a wood stove. There is also a study where you can relax and watch TV and a Media Room to play games. If you would rather spend time in the fresh air, you can relax in the front yard on the wooden porch swing. There are five bathrooms throughout that feature clawfoot tubs.
The lower level features the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen has red and white tile and wallpaper with an apple trim to go with the school theme of the bed and breakfast. The spacious dining room has room for around twenty people. There is also an owner’s suite and an additional guest room on this level. This unique property is waiting for a new owner to continue its legacy. It is located at 203 E Main St, Ethel, MO 63539. To learn more and see additional photos, click here.
