At Boonville Luxury Lodging Bed and Breakfasts in Boonville, guests are immersed in more than a century of Old World charm, history, and hospitality at the Grand Victorian Manor and Le Cottage, two unique historic properties remodeled, refashioned, and refurbished with comfort and luxury in mind.
The Grand Victorian Manor, 519 High Street, is a classic Queen Anne design built between 1880 and 1885 by Charles Vollrath. The Vollrath family lived in the home until 1964 when the last family member, Bertha Vollrath, an only child, died. The manor features four large suites and a smaller porch suite, each with new well-appointed private baths. Recently renovated, the home is furnished with English antiques, period decor, and historically accurate wallpapers.
Two doors away at 513 High Street, Le Cottage, a smaller home with three guest suites, was remodeled in 2020 along with the Grand Victorian Manor. Now French-inspired in its decor and detailing, this formerly Missouri German-style 1860s home—once owned by writer, singer, and local legend Bob Dyer—offers the comfort of a quaint French cottage.
Guests at both homes can partake of brunch at the manor before heading out into the community to enjoy the history and local attractions that await. Boonville has more than four hundred properties on the National Register of Historic places, the Grand Victorian Manor included. Three-wheeled bicycles are available at the manor for a trip west down High Street to the depot district where visitors can explore the Katy Depot, a Spanish Mission-style depot on the MKT Railroad, now the Katy Trail State Park, a 240-mile biking and hiking trail perfect for a scenic bicycle ride on the former railroad bed. At the Visitors Center in the district, maps of Boonville’s Historic Walking Tour are available for those seeking more historic locations across the area.
For an encounter with some of the most iconic horses in the world, Warm Springs Ranch, the nursery for the Budweiser Clydesdales, is just a short car ride away. Advance tour reservations are advised to see this three-hundred-plus acre home to more than seventy Clydesdales, from foals to mares and stallions.
After a day out, guests can relax at the manor happy hour from 4 to 5 PM. Craft cocktails and fresh tapas-style offerings from on-site gardens or local producers will stay any appetite until dinner. In the warmer months, the evening Victorian courtyard beckons with proper English gardens complete with grapevine shelters, waterfalls, and lush, blooming plants and flowers, a picturesque setting for larger gatherings and events.
Whether it’s the restored historic homes, the period decor, the French antiques, or the English gardens—every thoughtful aspect of a visit to Boonville Luxury Lodging Bed and Breakfasts is designed to take guests on a journey to another time and place without leaving behind the modern luxuries they expect.
