On October 26, during game six of the 1985 World Series that pitted the Kansas City Royals against the St. Louis Cardinals, umpire Donald Denkinger blew a call at first base that changed the course of events in the series. Kansas City went on to win the series the following day. The Denkinger call still fuels heated discussions among fans of the cross-state rivals.
