The Second Missouri Division, US Army was formed on this date. Their famous Taney County song, Houn’Dawg, told of a loyal and protective hound. The song continued with the group and by World War I they were all known as The Houn’Dawgs. The Missouri Army National Guard 203rd Engineer Battalion currently continues to carry on that nickname.
