January/February Events Worth the Drive

by Missouri Life

The Loop Ice Carnival

Bundle up for this annual event on The Delmar Loop in St. Louis. On January 19 and 20, one of St. Louis’s most vibrant shopping districts will transform into an ice carnival where you can see ice sculptures being carved and kids can enjoy an ice slide. You and your family can join the temporary tattoo scavenger hunt and go on the carnival rides. Keep an eye out for new activities and the Loop Ice Carnival After Dark events this year. ‘Pepperland’: Mark Morris Dance Group with Live Music

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the City of Liverpool has commissioned a special performance, and it’s coming to Kansas City. The event features live music and mesmerizing choreographed dances created by Mark Morris, an American dancer, choreographer, and director. On February 8, at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, the Dance Group will perform to six tracks from Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Five decades ago this album made its mark with a lineup of creative hits featuring influences that ranged from the Beach Boys to Frank Zappa. A live band will perform a medley of Sgt. Pepper’s songs along with six originals that were inspired by the album. Learn more about this evening at HJSeries.org/events.
