Charles and Kim Saso enjoyed homebrewing together and were looking for a use for the spent grains from their homebrewing sessions, and that is how The Crafted Bone was born. Dog bones are made with the grains left behind after the brewing process is complete. Today, the grain is sourced from local breweries in both St. Charles and St. Louis and then mixed by hand with flour, natural peanut butter, and eggs before being baked into bone-shaped dog cookies. Grains include barley, oats, wheat, or rye. These dog bones are high in fiber and protein for your furry friend.

In Westphalia, Brenda Kay Rehagen can be found hand-pouring her soy wax candles for customers each day. Giddy-Up Soy Candles are “a healthier choice,” Brenda says since some studies have found that paraffin wax candles can produce carcinogens, such as toluene and benzene. Buyers can find Brenda’s Giddy-Up Soy Candles at Tin Shack Candle Company (her online retail store) or by browsing her shop (203 Main Street in Westphalia) by appointment.
