The State Park Fund is created to develop Missouri state parks. One year after the National Park System was established in 1916, the state of Missouri put a funding mechanism in place to preserve designated areas of land and transform them into public spaces. The first piece of property bought was the J. Huston Tavern in Arrow Rock, six years later.
