Known for his black, oversized opticals and for loudly leading the 7th inning stretch serenade, Harry Caray called his first game as the official voice of the St. Louis Cardinals today in 1945.
He was paired with another announcing ace in 1954: Jack Buck.
Caray would go on to become the official voice of the Chicago Cubs; an ironic development given the intense rivalry between the two teams.
