Missouri History Today April 27, 1871: Warrensburg is selected as the site of the Second District Normal School, which would become Warrensburg Teachers College.

by Missouri Life

Warrensburg residents learned they had reason to be excited on this day more than 152 years ago. The reason? Their burg was selected as the location for a new teachers’ college in the Show-Me state.

In 1919, the name was changed to Central Missouri State Teachers College. It was changed again in 1945, to Central Missouri State College.
