Missouri History Today April 4, 2006: A third iteration of Busch Stadium opens in St. Louis.

The first game played in the newest version of the Cardinal’s stadium 17 years ago today showcased the team’s minor league affiliates, the Memphis Redbirds and the Springfield Cardinals. 

The  St. Louis Cardinals themselves wouldn’t take the field until a week later. 

Apparently, the third time was a charm for the Cardinals – the very  irst year playing in their new stadium, the team won the  World Series. Talk about a game-winning  triple …
