When you think about it, dog owning and golfing have quite a bit in common: Both require walking. Carrying a bag. Chasing a ball. Even doglegs! But here’s an event where dogs and golf have even more “linking” them.

On Saturday, August 5, the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri (HSSWMO) is hosting its second annual Scramble Fore Strays tournament. It’s being held at Island Green Golf Club in Republic.

The event features 4-person teams in an 18-hole scramble format. Each player hits one shot; the team selects the better result and continues play until the ball is holed. Players must be 21+.

Here’s the schedule:

7:30 AM: Registration (all competitors are required to check-in at registration upon arrival at Island Green)

8:10 AM: Pre-start announcements, departure for respective tees

8:30 AM: Shotgun start

1 PM: Play concludes and awards ceremony and lunch begins.

The entry fee for this fun day is now $350, instead of $400 per team. You can sign up your team here. (Just use the discount code Golf4Strays on the right hand side of the check-out page before paying).

The fee includes one round of golf, two 2-person golf carts, participation in the golf tournaments (Longest Drive, Longest Putt, Closest To The Putt), score cards, lunch buffet, and championship prizes.

Proceeds help aid in operating a No Kill animal shelter, placing animals in suitable homes, offering low-cost veterinary services, and providing educational programs. The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri does not receive any funding from the city or state and is not affiliated with any national organizations. This means it relies solely on donations from caring individuals like you.

Last year, the HSSWMO was able to help over 30 animals receive various medical treatments with the funds it raised. Help it save more lives by signing up to play today.
