Beatles Come to the Show-Me State
Charlie O. Finley brought the Beatles to Kansas City on this date. He offered $50,000 for an appearance, but the Beatle’s band manager said that the going price was $100,000 so Finley countered with a $150,000 offer. Standard tickets were $8.50, the highest they ever were on tour that year. Fewer than half the seats were filled at Municipal Stadium.
