Shop Local at Missouri Wineries

by Missouri Life

This article is presented in partnership with Missouri Wine and Grape Board.

The holiday season is right around the corner, and you don’t want to wait until the week before to start checking items off of your shopping list. It’s the year of buying local, and we have some great gift ideas for you that are made and sold right here in the Show-Me State.

No matter where you are in the state, there’s sure to be a Missouri winery nearby with a gift shop filled with unique products and wine accessories that make thoughtful gifts. While you are visiting these wineries across the state, you can also be working toward a reward thanks to the Missouri Winery Visitors Program (MVP). It’s free to join the program where you collect points from wineries across the state and then redeem them for rewards. Look at it this way, while you’re shopping around for your loved ones, you can also be working toward a gift for yourself. It’s giving season, but that doesn’t mean you can’t treat yourself in the process.

One of the best parts about the program is that no purchase is necessary to gain points. All you have to do is visit the tasting room of a participating winery and ask for an MVP ticket. Then, you enter and track your points online. But if you are interested in purchasing wines and gifts, here are a few of the Missouri wineries you’ll definitely want to visit.

The gift shop at Adam Puchta Winery is packed with history and personalized gifts like wine glasses and accessories along with local cheeses and artisan sausages, crackers, and gourmet chocolates. Not to mention, the award-winning Norton made from Missouri’s official state grape would make a great gift for any wine-lover.

Put a sweet spin on a present with a six pack of hard cider from St. James Winery or one of the many fruit juices offered if you’re looking for something sans booze. The winery also carries tasty jelly you can throw in, too.

Peek inside the small gift shop at Villa Antonio Winery where you can find shirts, coasters, and various other trinkets. Or head to the shop at Les Bourgeois Vineyards to purchase some vintage Mizzou gear like baseball hats, sunglasses, stainless steel cups, and a plethora of other wine must-haves like a wine key and a wine sippy cup. There’s also an option to build a personalized basket with bottles of wine and other gifts.

You can get all of your shopping done at one Missouri winery or hit the road to explore multiple. With MVP, you gain points every time you visit a winery and even more if you visit a new one each time. Some of the awards you could earn include a wine journal and pen, MO wine bottle stopper, totes, and cheese boards.

You can sign up here for MVP and start collecting points right away. Happy shopping!
