Simply Cooking with Donna, UPBAR, and Tacos La Jefa in St. Louis

Simply Cooking with Donna – 800 N Tucker Blvd – SimplyCookingWithDonna.com  Simply Cooking with Donna is redefining the restaurant industry. This soul food restaurant was created by Chef Donna Vickers and is located in The St. Patrick Center in downtown St. Louis, but it is to-go only. The menu features mouthwatering dishes, such as the Fried Chicken Dinner, four piece fried chicken wings, legs, or mixed, cornbread, and a choice of two sides. Side dishes include French fries, seasoned green beans, smothered cabbage, candied sweet potatoes, and more. Hours of operation are Thursday–Saturday 11 AM to 8 PM and Sunday 11 AM to 7 PM. Call or text 314-798-8022 for curbside pickup or place your order online. Delivery is also available through Uber Eats, GrubHub, and DoorDash.

UPBAR – 3763 Forest Park Ave – UpBarSTL.com  This rooftop bar offers one of the best views of the city with two outdoor patios. UPBAR is located on the seventh floor of the Element by Westin and also offers indoor seating. Try the Butterfly Tears cocktail made with butterfly-infused Exotico Tequila, fresh squeezed lemon juice, simple syrup, passion fruit puree or order a flight if you can’t decide on just one. The food menu features shareable appetizers, charcuterie boards, sandwiches, and some classic brunch items, including biscuits and gravy and a waffle board with plenty of toppings. Hours of operation are Monday–Saturday from 4 PM to close and Sunday 10 AM–3 PM. Tacos La Jefa is open inside of Urban Eats—a marketplace and shared kitchen in the Dutchtown neighborhood—and serves authentic Mexican cuisine and a birria recipe that has been passed down for generations. Try the beef or chicken birria or one of the vegetarian options. There are no set hours, but the Facebook page is continuously updated with dates the tasty restaurant is open. Juanita’s Creole Soul Cafe and Perfectly Pastry, a breakfast and dessert shop, also are housed inside of Urban Eats
