The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) was founded in 1937.

90% of the Missouri population is within 15 miles of a conservation area.

182 conservation areas have designated trails.

191 are designated natural areas, covering 95,671 acres.

Today, MDC owns or manages 1,196 conservation areas around the state covering 1,012,508 acres.

301 have boat accesses.

There are 853 miles of designated trails.

Every Missouri county has at least 1 conservation area.
