Iconic Metro St. Louis Area Finds New Life

by Missouri Life

This article is presented in partnership with The Streets of St. Charles.

Once home to life-sized animals, an ark, and a restaurant that held nostalgic and fond memories for those who visited Noah’s Ark and Hotel, the Streets of St. Charles has transformed the land into a vibrant, dining hot spot and destination for entertainment in metro St. Louis.

The former landmark, Noah’s Ark and Hotel, was built in 1968 and operated for more than twenty-five years before it closed its doors in the mid-1990s and sat empty for a time. The structure was demolished in 2007 to make way for the twenty-seven-acre mixed-use development that now occupies the property now known as Streets of St. Charles. With more than a dozen restaurants, numerous unique shops, and entertainment, Streets of St. Charles is an increasingly popular destination for area residents and visitors and continues to add new additions for shopping, dining, and entertainment.

Customers of Streets of St. Charles enjoy a mix of unique local, regional, and national restaurants, each offering something a little different. Whether you’re in the mood for the farm-to-table entrees at Prasino, handcrafted cocktails next to the fireplace at Firebirds Woodfired Grill, or fresh guacamole and one-of-a-kind southwestern flavors at Mission Taco, Streets of St. Charles has something for everyone. Streets has even more to satisfy those food and drink cravings, including First Watch, P.F.  Chang’s, Tucanos, Five Guys, Dewey’s Pizza, U-Swirl, Bar Louie, Wasabi, Picasso’s, and Narwhal’s.

If you bring your holiday list, Olivino has an array of infused olive oils, balsamic vinegars, wine, and accoutrements for the foodie on your list, and MOD, a St. Louis area favorite for current fashion trends, will help you outfit the fashionista. In addition, limited time pop-ups such as Pleated and Ju Ju B’s and St. Louis streetwear company Arch Apparel add to the holiday shopping selection.

Enjoy a big screen movie experience only the theater can provide. AMC Theatres at Streets of St. Charles has comfy, reclining seats, MacGuffin’s Bar, and the popcorn you love to add to your experience.

Streets of St. Charles will soon welcome Napoli III, serving some of St. Louis’s favorite and finest Italian cuisine. Loaded Nachos, set to open in early 2021, will offer up a unique twist on favorite dishes in a deconstructed nacho style. Coming to Streets next spring is Buff City Soap, where you can shop handmade, all-natural soaps, lotions, and products for face and body.

Streets of St. Charles always has something going on. Bring a chair and come out for monthly live music during the Beale Street Concert series. Peruse locally grown and made items at the monthly mid-week Market on Beale. Bring the kids out for Deck the Streets on Saturday, December 5 to catch Santa Claus strolling through Streets of St. Charles and stay for a one-time showing of The Polar Express at AMC Theatres.

Make a weekend of your visit to St. Charles and stay at Tru by Hilton Hotel or Drury Plaza & Suites, where you’re just steps away from shopping, dining, and entertainment at Streets of St. Charles and a short drive to Historic Main Street.
