Bring on the Bugs

by Andrea Kaneko

Springfield is bugging out for this event! The Relics Event Center will hold the Moth Market, a market full of specimen bones, taxidermied animals, preserved bugs, vintage collectibles, jewelry, and original art.

“We both love things that you don’t always see in other settings, such as craft shows or retail, so we invited other people to bring their weird stuff to show,” says Minda Weigand, co-coordinator of the event. “It’s so fulfilling to get other small businesses together and watch us all succeed.”

Moth Market is scheduled for 11 AM to 6 PM on February 15th. It will also have coffee, mini bundts, and a food truck available on-site. Tickets are $5 each and kids under 14 are free

“We had our first event in October of 2024. It was set up kind of spur of the moment, but was so well attended, we wanted to do it again,” Minda says. “We’re hoping to do it a few times a year, in a few other small cities.”

Some of the current vendors set to attend are Nu Metal Fairy, Goblin-Esque Creations, Lavender Cowboy Art, and more.

If you are into the weird and spooky, this is the market for you. It will be a scarily good time with a gathering of like-minded people and a inclusive community.
