With the stroke of a pen, President Harry S. Truman transfers Cuivre River Recreation Demonstration Area to the state of Missouri. During the Great Depression, the Civilian Conservation Corps built a rock bridge over Little Sugar Creek, a stone picnic shelter and other facilities that survive to the present. Previously, the National Park Service managed the land, according to a history from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Read about Cuivre River State Park here.
