A third version of Busch Stadium opens in St. Louis. The first game showcased the St. Louis Cardinals’ minor league affiliates—the Memphis Redbirds and the Springfield Cardinals—while the big league St. Louis Cardinals took the field a week later. The very first year in their new stadium, the Cardinals won the World Series.
