The Chillicothe Baking Co. took out an ad in the newspaper The Constitution-Tribune on this day 95 years ago, announcing the arrival of sliced bread.
The town remains quite proud of its cutting edge innovation, and place in food fame. In fact, every year Chillicothe holds a Sliced Bread Day celebration. The 2023 celebration is slated for July 8. Among the highlights? The Greatest Breakfast Since Sliced Bread, a 5K run/walk, a baby baker contest, and the Greatest Parade Since Sliced Bread.
