Festive Sights

A flip of a switch on Thanksgiving evening reveals thousands of jewel-toned lights outlining every tower in Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza. The lights will illuminate the shopping district Nov. 25 through mid-January.

Immerse yourself in more than 6.5 million lights and hundreds of decorated trees during An Old Time Christmas Nov. 6 – Dec. 30 at Silver Dollar City in Branson. The celebration features a light parade, holiday music, specialty shops, homestyle meals and sweet treats.

Christmas Traditions, Nov. 26 – Dec. 24 in St. Charles, celebrates yuletide traditions with 80 legendary holiday characters, Victorian carolers, shopping and dining in the historic downtown, draped in holiday décor.

Garden Lights

Colorful displays transport you to a winter wonderland during the Festival of Lights Nov. 11 – Dec. 30 at Powell Gardens in Kingsville. More than 20 miles of lights illuminate the park’s architecture and expansive landscape.

The Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis sparkles with more than a million lights during Garden Glow Nov. 13 – Jan. 8. Indulge in s’mores and holiday-themed drinks. Special events include Chanukah and Kwanza celebrations.

Glide beneath a billowy canopy at the Crown Center Ice Terrace in Kansas City from Nov. 5 through March. The outdoor rink provides a view of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree – one of the tallest in the U.S. 

Steinberg Skating Rink, the largest outdoor ice skating rink in the Midwest, offers public skating every day from Nov. 19 through Feb. 28 in St. Louis’ Forest Park.
