Boonville is in the Christmas spirit this year, with the “Lights of Love” tree lighting at the Roslyn Heights home.
The free event, which will feature a red, white, and blue lit tree and Christmas caroling, will begin at 5 PM on December 8. Before the event, from 2 to 5 PM, the home will serve complimentary drinks and cookies. Following the tree lighting, it will have complimentary popcorn and hot chocolate. The 2024 Roslyn Heights Cocoa Mug will be available for purchase.
Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (MSSDAR) has hosted this event for 20 years to honor veterans. The patriotic group aims to support Missouri’s heritage and community.
“We host this event so that others can see our beautiful home which is decorated with many Christmas trees,” says Marilynn Henry, public relations manager of the organization. “We also hope to generate interest in our organization. We welcome new members!”
Each year the funds raised at the event go towards veterans. This year, the proceeds go to the Mid-America Veterans Museum in O’Fallon.
The Roslyn Heights home was built in 1895 and is the headquarters of the MSSDAR. The historic home, built in a Victorian style, is part of Boonville’s Main Street Mansions. On December 11 tours of the home will be open; tours of the home are $10 per person, but there is no change for people under 18 and members of the MSSDAR.
