Fans were celebrating a win over Milwaukee near Busch Stadium when the storm suddenly struck around 4:00 pm.
A beer tent at nearby Kilroy’s Sports Bar went airborne as hail pounded fans who ran for cover. One man was killed, and approximately 100 others were injured.
The storm ended up being one of the most damaging and costly hail storms in American history: Insured losses totaled more than $42 billion!
