Missouri History Today August 18, 1960: Tropical Plants Become Staples At Iconic Botanical Garden Building

An unlikely sight took root on this date in 1960 when a palm tree was planted for the first time in the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Climatron building. The geodesic dome has been called one of the most important examples of architecture in U.S. history.
