Missouri’s roadways took a giant leap forward when Governor Arthur Hyde signed the Centennial Road Law on this date in 1921. The legislation enabled the Missouri State Highway Commission to develop approximately 7,500 miles of primary and secondary roads, according to a history by the U.S. Federal Highway Administration.
