The Springfield News-Leader publishes a photo of the US Post Office in Hilda, located in Taney County southeast of Springfield, and of its postmaster, Margaret Everly (at right), delivering mail to a customer. Officials had proposed closing the facility, according to a Missouri Secretary of State history. The facility ended up operating until 1964, and a rural post office functioned from 1964 through 1975, according to PostalHistory.com.
