A list of contents of a time-capsule, buried beneath Parker Hall at the University of Missouri, is published on this date in the Columbia Missouri Statesman. Years later, in fall 2022, a work crew locates the capsule, and its contents are removed. Archivists find old documents and photos dating to the now-demolished building’s days as a community hospital. This picture shows the July 1925 issue of the State Historical Society of Missouri’s publication, The Missouri Historical Review, featuring an excerpt on page 11 about Parker Memorial Hospital “erected in 1900 as the result of a gift of $15,000 left for this purpose by Mr. William H. Parker of Columbia.” The General Assembly matched that amount to build and equip the facility.
